Michael Marckx is a professional cyclist, former UCI cyclocross pro, and the founder and CEO of the Belgian Waffle Ride — one of the most influential gravel and un-road cycling series in North America. Growing up in a Belgian-heritage athletic family where marathons and bike races were the norm, Michael ran his first marathon and road race at age 12. He launched BWR in San Diego in 2012 and grew it into a celebrated multi-event series spanning California, Utah, North Carolina, British Columbia, and Mexico, helping define the modern gravel cycling movement.
